UFFIZI
GALLERY FLORENCE

The Uffizi Art Gallery Firenze is the singular most important
art gallery in the world. It contains thousands of paintings,
carvings and other art treasures which are viewed in chronological
order from their early renaissance beginnings to the late
19th century.
The Gallery of the Uffizi was also the first
museum ever to be opened to the public with the Grand Duke
of Florence opening it officially in 1591. Its four centuries
of history make the Uffizi Gallery the oldest museum in the
world.
Cosimo the first a Medici was responsible
for the construction of the Uffizi Palae and commissioned
the architet Giorgio Vasari 1560 with the project. The Uffizi
or Offices was later completed by Buontalenti, who designed
the famous Tribune, to house the administrative offices of
the Government because Palazzo Vecchio, which also overlooks
Piazza della Signoria, had become too small to hold them all.
The Uffizi became a gallery in 1591 and remains
the most visited attraction in Florence and the second most
popular attraction in Italy (the colosseum in Rome is the
most popular) We hope that our humble interactive image will
give you a taster of what lies within the walls and that you
will book your room as soon as possible so that you can start
planning the many sight seeing activities in Florence.
